The Juvies are Getting Ready to Fly!

We were at the cottage over Labor Day weekend and saw the 2 juvenile loons from the shore. The wind was howling all weekend and left me no time to get out and get photos of them.

	These are some photos I took a few years ago of a juvie learning to fly. They start out running across the water...
... flapping their wings.
	Trying to gain speed.
Flapping and running on top of the water.
	Then eventually, crashing back in on their bellies.
Coming to a stop and resting. After about a half hour break, the process starts all over again. Eventually, they do get airborne and circle the lake before returning to practice another day.
