Four
eggs?!?!

On June 8th
we
went to the cottage again and the loons were still on the nest.

Being
back in early June, the loons were still on the nest. I went out to get
their photo
and they were in the middle of 'exchanging the guard' - trading sitting
on the
nest. So I tried to take a photo to show if there were still 2 eggs
there. I
held the camera over my head to get a higher angle on the eggs from
outside the 100' perimeter.

It
wasn't till I got back and downloaded the photos and took a close look
at the
photo, that I saw what looks like 4 eggs. Look at the photo above. It
is a little blurry due to holding it over my head, but the blow-up
looks like 4
eggs to me. So could it be that they thought the first 2 would not
hatch and
laid another 2? If so the eggs would be late hatching - not in early
June as
usual. We will have to wait and see.
